Hello everyone, I just returned from the tour of Northern Lights Nights in Canada, Spanish and I must say it was amazing. I recommend it 100%. I leave you the good, the bad, some tips, photos of my experience, hunting Northern Lights.

Hunting Northern Lights

Good things:

– The Spanish guides are natives of Spanish-speaking places such as Spain, Mexico, etc., so their Spanish is fluent and understandable.

– All The activities are done on time, no one is expected, they even make an appointment 10 minutes before in the lobby and whoever doesn't arrive stays.

– The hotel meets all the essential amenities.

– All VISA and Mastercard cards pass without problem. You don't need to carry that much cash.

– Many locals speak Spanish, there is even a Mexican food place so don't worry if you don't speak fluent English.

Hunting Northern Lights

Bad things:

– The restaurants in the area do not have fixed hours. Due to the low influx of people, they may say that their hours are from 11 to 5 and they end up opening at 3 pm, you have to investigate or ask, do not be guided by the hours they say on Google or the signs they have posted.

– The hotel restaurant closes at 10 am, you will have to get up early or find another place to have breakfast.

Tips:

– The probability of seeing the northern lights is 50%. Do not trust that you will have to see them every day while hunting for the Northern Lights, since there are many factors that influence them, there is no month or date that assures you that you will see them, even if they say that they are in X face of the moon, if it is cloudy you will not see anything .

– 100% rent extreme cold clothing. They give you a suitcase that includes 1 pair of boots, 1 overalls, 1 jacket, 2 pairs of gloves and a hat. It is only 1 set for every day and they give it to you when they receive you.

You wear this over your clothes and it is recommended to use it for all nights of aurora hunting and activities such as snowshoeing, etc. It is not for day use.

– Wear thermal underwear such as lycra, t-shirts, socks and at least 1 balaclava. On top of these, preferably wear thermal, plush pants and/or snow pants.

– Bring at least 1 waterproof jacket for the cold with a hat, not coats.

– I recommend buying 1 pair of snow boots since the boots you rent are very heavy and are not suitable for going out to eat or going out in your free time.

-Snow gloves that are not woven or made of cotton, there are some that even have touch of the index finger and thumb.

Hunting Northern Lights

– Carry “Hand warmers” they are like patches/cushions that they sell on Amazon and Mercadolibre and you stick them on your socks and gloves or you can put them inside your jacket bags.

They make a huge difference, as they warm your feet and hands for almost 8 hours, which keeps you warm all the time, even outdoors.

– Rent all your extras in advance, many did not and there was no longer space to hire the activities there.

Especially dog sledding as it is the most popular along with snowmobiles.

– Buy your flights at night or early in the morning, as it is very likely that you will see the northern lights through the window because you would be above the clouds.

– Pack your suitcases no matter what, since at the Whitehorse airport they throw suitcases horribly, we had to see one that arrived broken.

– In hot springs, a temperature of -20° or lower is needed for hair to freeze. And don't worry about getting your hair wet or not, the place is a spa.

– Try the Bisonte burger, they sell it almost everywhere but the one I recommend is Antoinette's.

The owner is a professional chef and is Latino and the service is excellent.

I hope those who go enjoy hunting the northern lights as much as I do.
